Knight Design Footpegs
This will be a quick one…
Pegs mounted and used. Pictures of a new one don’t really mean much.
When I purchased Scarlett (2018 Goldwing), the previous owner had installed Goldstrike floorboards. Quick review of them from a 6 hour ride home from Phoenix: I HATED THEM. I don’t know if it was because I had never ridden a bike with floorboards before or they were genuinely not for me but foot location was vague and I was having trouble with rear brake control.
I needed to find something that would both replace the floorboards and give me some more legroom. I’m old and my knees were never great. My left knee is worse after an untreated injury from low-siding a Suzuki in 2017.

There aren’t a lot of options when it comes to Goldwing footpegs. Most ‘Wing riders would probably install a taller seat than lower the pegs and reduce ground clearance. Many who do replace the footpegs at all install the aforementioned floorboards. I like the stock seating position and dislike knee pain. One company that does have pegs is Knight Design out of Corvallis, Oregon. I ordered the 1” lower, wide footpegs with rubber tread (item# 21154E-2013).
There really isn’t much to say when it comes to these footpegs. They are solid billet aluminum so they shouldn’t break or bend. I think the rubber was a good choice for a bike like a Goldwing. The other options are more aggressive and grippy aluminum in different patterns for different purposes. You can buy the other ones and replace the rubber if you change your mind ($59.95 each). They are lower and than standard and wide, as advertised.
It really is nitpicking but should something look like this that you paid nearly $250 for?
The are only two downsides that I have found: damaged rubber tread upon deliver and the price. These aren’t cheap. Shipped price was $238.95. I’m not saying they aren’t worth it but I do wish they were a little less spendy. Related to the price was the damage to the rubber tread. The damage wasn’t enough to complain about but it looked like someone had overtightened the mounting screw and split the rubber.
I haven’t scraped them yet so they either aren’t low enough to create a cornering ground clearance issue or my lean in a corner isn’t low enough to find out.
So that’s it. I plan on keeping them and I don’t feel like I need to search for another option. I don’t think about them at all when I’m riding. That is telling on its own. If they disappear from your thought, they’re doing their job.
KD offers footpegs for a variety of different motorcycle makes and models in both wide and standard widths at http://www.knightdesignllc.com. These are the only ones I have but I imagine they are all about the same.
